Propósito

Purpose

El objetivo principal del mapa del Karst en España es representar la superficie peninsular donde afloran rocas carbonatadas karstificables, así como los afloramientos yesíferos y otros tipos de rocas solubles como rocas detríticas carbonatadas, y sales sódicas y potásicas fundamentalemnte. Además gran parte de los grandes ríos tienen su origen en manantiales kársticos y gran parte de los acuíferos subterráneos que abastecen a la población, agricultura y ganadería son de esta naturaleza

The main objective of the map of the Karst in Spain is to represent the peninsular surface where karstified carbonate rocks appear, as well as the gypsum outcrops and other types of soluble rocks such as detritic carbonate rocks, and sodium and potassium salts fundamentally. In addition, a large part of the large rivers originate from karstic springs and a large part of the underground aquifers that supply the population, agriculture and livestock are of this nature

En España el karst ocupa un lugar destacado geomorfológica e hidrogeológicamente, cumplindo un papel muy relevante en el abastecimiento con agua subterránea y debiéndose considerar también en el los riesgos naturales. El mapa del Karst en España recoge una gran parte del territorio peninsular e islas Baleares donde afloran rocas carbonatadas karstificables, así como los afloramientos yesíferos que también cubren una gran extensión y ya en menor medida, otro tipo de rocas solubles (rocas detríticas carbonatadas, sales sódicas y potásicas).

In Spain, karst occupies a prominent place geomorphologically and hydrogeologically, playing a very important role in the supply of groundwater and should also be considered as a potential natural risk. The map of karst in Spain includes a large part of the peninsula and Balearic Islands where karstified carbonate rocks outcrop, as well as gypsum outcrops that also cover a large area and, to a lesser extent, other types of soluble rocks (detritic carbonate rocks, sodium and potassium salts).

El mapa del Karst en España recoge una gran parte del territorio peninsular e islas Baleares donde afloran rocas carbonatadas karstificables, así como los afloramientos yesíferos que también cubren una gran extensión y ya en menor medida, otro tipo de rocas solubles (rocas detríticas carbonatadas, sales sódicas y potásicas). Para la confección del mapa del karst se realizó una primera selección, a partir de todos los mapas de síntesis geológica a escala 1:200.000 del IGME (publicados entre 1970 y 1973) de todos los afloramientos potencialmente karstificables existentes en nuestro país. Así se compuso un primer mapa de aproximación de materiales karstificables existentes, ya fueran carbonatados, yesíferos, detríticos (sólo de los que teníamos evidencia en su karstificación) o mixtos. A partir de este primer esbozo se fueron realizando sucesivas correcciones con los datos del "Mapa geológico de la Península Ibérica, Baleares y Canarias" a escala 1:1.000.000 (IGME -1980), del "Mapa de vulnerabilidad a la contaminación de los mantos acuíferos de la España Peninsular, Baleares y Canarias" de la misma escala (IGME-1972)y del "Mapa Hidrogeológico", también de la misma escala, que, en aquella época, estaba en fase de realización por el IGME. Posteriormente se fueron haciendo cada vez aproximaciones más detalladas, en ciertas zonas, a partir de mapas hidrogeológicos, geomorfológicos y geológicos (serie MAGNA), con escalas de trabajo diferentes, que han ido desde 1:50.000 hasta 1:400.000. Igualmente se empleo información espeleológica como el "Catálogo de grandes cavidades de España" (Federación Española de Espeleología, 1982)

The map of the Karst in Spain includes a large part of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands where karstified carbonate rocks emerge, as well as gypsum outcrops that also cover a large area and, to a lesser extent, other types of soluble rocks (detritic carbonate rocks, sodium and potassium salts). For the preparation of the karst map, a first selection was made from all the IGME 1:200,000 scale geological synthesis maps (published between 1970 and 1973) of all the potentially karstifiable outcrops existing in our country. Thus, a first approximation map of existing karstifiable materials was composed, whether they were carbonate, gypsum, detritic (only those that we had evidence of in their karstification) or mixed. From this first sketch, successive corrections were made with data from the "Geological Map of the Iberian Peninsula, Balearic and Canary islands" at a scale 1:1,000,000 (IGME -1980), the "Map of Vulnerability to Contamination of the Aquifers of Peninsular Spain, Balearic and Canary Islands" at the same scale (IGME-1972) and the "Hydrogeological Map", also at the same scale, which at that time was being drawn up by the IGME. Later, more and more detailed approximations were made, in certain areas, from hydrogeological, geomorphological and geological maps (MAGNA series), with different working scales, which have gone from 1:50,000 to 1:400,000. Speleological information was also used, such as the 'catalogue of large caves in Spain' (Spanish Federation of Speleology, 1982).

Primera selección de los afloramientos potencialmente karstificables partir de los mapas de síntesis geológica a escala 1:200.000 del IGME (publicados entre 1970 y 1973) fueran carbonatados, yesíferos, detríticos o mixtos, con evidencia de su karstificación. A partir de este primer esbozo se fueron realizando sucesivas correcciones con los datos del "Mapa geológico de la Península Ibérica, Baleares y Canarias" a escala 1:1.000.000 (IGME -1980), del "Mapa de vulnerabilidad a la contaminación de los mantos acuíferos de la España Peninsular, Baleares y Canarias" de la misma escala (IGME-1972) y del "Mapa Hidrogeológico", también de la misma escala, que, en aquella época, estaba en fase de realización por el IGME.
