CONTINUOUS GEOLOGICAL MAPPING, ZONE 2700 EBRO BASIN

GEOLOGICAL CARTOGRAPHY is the representation of surface materials on the basis of their lithological, stratigraphic and structural characteristics. It is composed of the following levels of information: Z2700MRGEO: Cartographic units, differentiated geological enclosures; Z2700MPGEO: Geological enclosure labels; Z2700MLGEO: Auxiliary anchor lines of geological polygon labels; Z2700MLCON: Contact and fault lines. Linear entities of diverse origin; Z2700MPBUZ: Points and labels of point entities and structural measurements; Z2700CODEEDAD. The geographical scope of the project covers part of the following Autonomous Communities: Castile and Leon, La Rioja, Aragon, Catalonia, Navarre and the Basque Country.

Purpose

This CARTOGRAPHY is the result of the GEODE continuous geological mapping plan, it solves the problems of continuity in sheet edges of the previous MAGNA 50.000 series. It unifies criteria and offers a unique legend for each major region.

      The Continuous Geological Cartography of the Ebro Basin (Z2700) is part of the PLAN GEODE project, carried out by the IGME. It is based on the pre-existing MAGNA cartographic series at a scale of 1:50,000, improved with the geological cartographies at a scale of 1:25,000 published by the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) and the Government of Navarre, as well as numerous geological maps from Doctoral Thesis work.
